MATCH REPORTS FOR SEASON 2010-2011

11th September 2010.

Panthers V Stockport County

So after a long pre-season in lovely warm weather, the season began in heavy rain on Flixton Fields. A few changes to Panthers since last season has seen a few players leave but some fantastic players come in.

Freshly cut grass and a lovely pitch meant the Panthers could keep the ball on the floor and some superb passing play meant the chances were to come. Stockport's goalie was on form and made some excellent saves from Rachael Jones and Jess Lawson. The breakthrough finally came when a mazy run and cracking shot from Rachael Killeen found the bottom corner of the Stockport goal - really got to work on that celebration Rachael!

Abby Smith played in a new centre-midfield role and her amazing skills were dazzling everybody - she even managed to tackle herself at one stage!

Half-time substitutions saw Sally Young and Rheannon Glover enter the pitch and their busy work rate worried Stockport enough to keep them penned in their own half. Mid-way through the 2nd half, Abby picked up the ball for one of her runs but this one ended up with a stunning shot into the bottom corner - possibly goal-of-the-season already?

Stockport picked their game up and, but for a last ditch tackle by Shannon Howarth, may have got back into the game sooner than the last few minutes when a shot through a crowd of players left Steph Walker with no chance of saving it.

Final Score 2-1 win.
