Urmston Meds Pumas Vs St John's
After weeks of training throughout the summer period, Meds Pumas were finally about to play their first league game. The girls turned up nervous yet excited - and looking WONDERFUL in Orange. By the time the starting whistle blew the girls were raring to go. Both teams had pulled out some fancy moves and it wasn't too long before super striker Sophie Lister scored her debut goal for Meadowside, and finally had her celebration figured out
The girls were very excited - almost as excited as the coaches
Not too long later St.John's pulled out a cracking goal and the scores were level.
In the second half, Meadowside's defenders pulled out the A+ game and put all of the techniquies into use that they had been working on all summer, and didn't let another goal past them. Shortly into the second half Isabella Monteriro scored a beautiful goal - and the team was buzzing. Towards the end of the second half Pumas won a corner, and from this corner came Katie Garner's goal. A few more runs from St John's followed but our players were not going to let victory slip through their fingers, with Ayla Bingham-Watt and Niamh Baker producing some excellent tackles from the back, and the final score ended 3-1 in Meds favour. All of the players - from both teams - played extremely well and should be very proud of their first EVER football match
Final Score: Pumas 3-1 St John Allstars
Girl Of The Match: Sophie Lister

Urmston Meds Panthers vs Urmston Meds Pumas
The second game of the season brought torrential rain and a stylish pink kit for the Pumas. After last weeks win, the girls were well up for this game against their friends on the Meds Panthers - one which was a nice friendly game well played by both.
Starting the game on a tiny pitch, the Panthers quickly took the lead, but with consistent attacking play from the Pumas, Sophie Lister soon brought us level. Another great goal from the Panthers encouraged the Pumas on and another equalising goal from Sophie made it 2-2 at half time.
With Maisie Grice and Katie Garner battling in the middle of the pitch, and quality defending from Lauren Cowan and Harriet Myers, the game stayed tight but as soon as the Panthers scored again, the Pumas went and drew it level to 3-3 - Sophie getting her hatrick, once again
. A last minute goal from the Panthers saw this well fought game draw to a close with the Panthers picking up the points.
The weather on the day was the worst it has been for years yet both sets of players left with big smiles on their faces which was great to see.
Final Score: Panthers 4-3 Pumas
Girl of the Match: Maisie Grice

Urmston Meds Pumas vs Oswald Road
A few games into the season and the girls are starting to grasp the footballing techniques: the passes are prim, the tackles are tough and the skills are startling.
From the sidelines the nerves were present, but the girls being themselves they weren't present on the pitch. the girls started of the game in 'Dolce and Gabanan' style, run after run- from Katie Garner and Ella Sutton in the midfield and shot after shot from Sophie Lister and Rachel Campbellyou could feel a goal coming. Oswald Roads players were not going to give in easily. A cracking pass from Harriet Myres in the defence, set the play up nicely and the midfield were on their way. The ball landing with Maisie Grice, put the Pumas into the lead, led her to scoring a magnicent goal- chipping the goalkeeper.
The Second Half: the girls went in confident, but Oswald Road hadn't given up they came on hunting for a goal but geat defending from Harriet Myres and Isabella Monteiro and some amazing saves from goalkeeper Niamh Baker, kept the Pumas lead. A second goal scored stylishly by the one and only Sophie Lister came from a David Beckham quality ball over the top from Isabella Monteiro. The palyers continued to play at their highest level; from this came Isabella Monteiro going on a mad run from the defence and scoring a wicked goal.
Final Score: Pumas 3:0 Oswald Road
Player of the match(chosen by the coaches): Niamh Baker
Player of the match(chosen by Oswald Road): Harriet Myres
Next week the girls start their proper leauge and we wish them good look in the rest of the year!!!
