Charity Match, Thursday 18th August 2011 ko 7pm at Lees Field
URMSTON MEADOWSIDE Mens Team vs FC UNITED X1
As many people in the Club will be aware, at the start of the year the Mens team tragically lost their vice captain, Mark Abbott in a road accident. Mark, affectionately known as “ABBO” to his mates, was an inspiration to all who knew him both on and off the field of play and continues to be very sadly missed. Mark’s Meds shirt was signed by all his team mates and now hangs proudly in a frame inside the Clubhouse Community Room at Lees Field. Mark’s widow Danielle and his mum Anne have set up a fund in his memory to raise money to buy a guide dog. This is something that Mark would have very much supported as he was very close to his uncle who has gone blind. The family have held a number of fund raising events and Meds have already made a donation. However, in addition, the Meds Mens 1st team have arranged a prestigious Charity match against an FC United X1. This match will take place at Lees Field on the evening of Thursday 18th August with a kick-off time of 7pm , so come and support your team in what should be a memorable occasion. There will be no admission fee but donations to the fund will be warmly accepted on the night. Meds would like to thank the management at FC United for agreeing to send a team to participate in what is a very prestigious game from Meds point of view.
