26th March vs Timperley Athletic
26th March vs Timperley Athletic
Spartak glory
Following a dip in performances over the last games Spartak responded to the calls from the coaches to get back to playing the football they are capable and blasted twelve goals to defeat Timperley Athletic at Banky Lane.
The report this week won’t be trying to give the reader a feel for how each of the periods went but will simply describe the goals as they went in:
0-1 Joe Mason – a powerful run and shot from the edge of the box which gave the keeper no chance.
0-2 Theo Russell – a shot which crept in off the far post following a run down the left.
0-3 Alice Jones –a superb long range shot over the keepers head from just inside the Timperley half.
0-4 Dan Willis – a real poachers goal following up on a shot from Joe Mason which was parried by the keeper.
0-5 Joe Mason – another long range shot this time from out on the right which again gave the keeper no chance.
0-6 Dan Willis – a coolly taken goal after pouncing on a misplaced pass on the edge of the Timperley box.
0-7 Joe Mason – Dan again was quickest to react to a mistake in the Timperley defence and passed in for Joe to shoot home.
0-8 Dan Willis – following a corner the ball wasn’t cleared but Dan took control, turned and fired in from the edge of the box.
0-9 Joseph Sidley – a superb run down the left from the halfway line and a shot which squeezed in at the near post.
0-10 Dan Willis – following a corner a great turn and shot from the edge of the box which flew over everyone.
1-10 Spartak own goal – a well taken corner which took a deflection in off Joe taking a turn in goal
1-11 Dan Willis – following another corner the ball came through a crowd of players to Dan on hand at the back post to turn it in.
1-12 Dan Willis – Charlie was knocked over and the ref played the advantage and Dan again was quickest to react and fire in from the edge of the box.
12-1 does highlight the dominance Spartak displayed in the game but it does not reflect the part that Timperley played in the game. Timperley did have some good periods of play in which they passed the ball well and were unlucky not to get more than the one goal that they did. In the end the desire from the Spartak players to compete for the ball and score goals won out.
Let’s enjoy the winning feeling and look to carry this form into the next game on Saturday away to Sale United.
