League - AFC Urmston Meadowside Meteors v AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles

Sun 27th March 2011 - KO 10:30

Subs: Aaron, Ryan
Missing Due to Injuries or illness: Nico, Travis, Dom

A bit warmer today, although cloudy the sun was trying to peek through. The pitch had dried out over the past few days and the goal areas just a little bit softer than concrete! With a draw behind us, surely we were due a win, did it come our way?

First Half:
Meteors only had 10 players, so there would be some tired legs after this inter club Derby!
The game started with lots of play in midfield and not much else, Meteors broke free to win a corner but nothing came from it. After that, my notes suggest that Meteors had one shot on goal after a couple of Eagles attacks after that it fell apart for them. Eagles took control after our first goal which came from a corner and a Meteors own goal! 0-1. Eagles shots rained in from then on, Eddie, Clevon, Joe T and Chris, all having numerous attempts each. It was only a matter of time before Eagles 2nd goal would come and come it did from Joe T, good finish 0-2. Not long after this and Clevon is spotted making a run into space and the ball crossed in perfectly, Clevon kept composed and finished well, 0-3. Another shot from Eddie and an Eagles corner sees Meteors attack and shoot but it's over the bar and the half time whistle is blown.

Team talk given, drinks drunk, subs made and here we go again.

Second Half:
Meteors had a bit more possession in this half and the odd shot on goal but nothing to make Robert break out in a sweat. Eagles attacked and kept hold of the ball well, making Meteors work hard and wear them down. Eagles 4th goal came from Aaron 0-4. Our 5th goal, Andy heads the ball back towards goal and Aaron finishes it off. 0-5. Aaron yet again and strikes low and to the keepers right hand side to make it 0-6. Again lots of shots on goal that were either off target or were saved by Ashley, Meteors keeper. Shot came from Eddie, Aaron, Joe B, Andy and Kaelan.

Summary:
We needed the 3 points and we needed a decent goal difference, plus a clean sheet so we were more than happy with the result. Well done to Meteors who battled hard and did everything they could with 10 players to make our lives difficult. Back to back fixtures mean we meet again next week! Well done to all the Eagles players, some nice football today and some great possession stats (If only I knew what they were!)

Result: 0-6 smile

Goal Scorers: Aaron 3, Joe T 1, Clevon 1, Meteors OG 1
