Pre-Season Friendly: Vs Meds U16s Hurricanes KO 10:30am

Pre-Season Friendly: Vs Meds U16s Hurricanes KO 10:30am - Lees Field

Short report today.
Starting Subs: Chris, Sean, Alex, Jordan, Eoin

For 20 mins of the 1st half Eagles kept Hurricanes at bay, we did not have many chances on goal as Hurricanes defence were solid and any shots we did have either missed or were straight at the keeper. Hurricanes scored 3 goals in this half, Eagles tried and tried but Hurricanes closed us down and were just too strong for us.

The second half saw much of the same, but due to on injury the gam ehad to be stopped, Jordan going in for a tackle landing badly on his shoulder and had to be taken to hospital! Get well soon Jordan! Hurricanes deserve their name, Eagles played some nice football but were not quite on the same form as they have been recently against teams of the same age group. Hurricanes scored another 3 during this half, Eagles had a penalty but the keeper saved it. Eagles did score 2 goals near the end of the game, they deserved more but time ran out. With so many subs today we had plenty of fresh legs to bring on but not enough to cover the areas where we were getting overrun!

Result 2-6 for Hurricanes

Eagles team performance was fantastic at times, the willingness to score was always there, Hurricanes were just too good in defence. The idea of this friendly was to give the lads a challenge, no point to keep playing friendlies against teams you have a good idea that you can beat them! (No disrespect to recent friendlies!) Still a few more things to work on, which we can cover in training at some point. Well done, forget the result, remember the feeling of being beaten and make sure that you are not the team that feels like that at the end of our fixtures!

Footy Quotes

"He cannot kick with his left foot, he cannot head a ball, he cannot tackle and he doesn't score many goals. Apart from that he's all right."

George Best (his assesment of Manchester United's David Beckham)
