AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles v Boothstown
Sun 17th Oct KO 10:30AM

Eddie still injured, Chris and Jordan unavailable and with 4 subs we should do okay for fresh legs. Regardless of the result today, could the lads put in a good performance?

Subs: Dom, Joe C, Sean, Alex
First Half:
From the kick off Meds were on the front foot, Olly caught offside. Boothstown (BT) awarded a free kick. Meds attack, Joe B shoots but it's too high. BT attack twice, first attack breaks down then they come right back at us and score the first goal 0-1. Meds attack, Olly shoots, too high. Within a minute or two, Meds attack, Andy is there with a header to equalise. 1-1. BT awarded a free kick, this breaks down. Meds attack, Olly caught offside. Meds win a free kick, Aaron header but it's wide. Meds attack, Olly shot, saved for a corner, corner taken, Meds header and this is saved! Meds attack, Aaron shot, wide! BT attack on the break, and score again! 1-2. Again within a minute of Meds kicking off, Meds awarded a free kick, Joe T is there to slot another equaliser in 2-2. Meds attack again, Aaron shoots but it's too high. End to end football for a few minutes. Meds awarded a free kick, this breaks down and BT attack that ends up in a Meds goal kick. BT attack, they shoot but it's saved. Another BT attack, another shot but wide. BT attack but caught offside. Meds attack that breaks down and ends up as a BT goalkick. Meds attack, crossed ball but it's gathered by the keeper. BT awarded a free kick. Meds awarded a free kick. BT attack, BT corner but the half time whistle is blown.

What a first half! Not a lot between the two teams, it will only take one or two goals for one of the teams to sort out who comes away with the points. As it stands a draw looks likely if it goes on like this!

Second Half:
Well, this half goes much the same as the first. Meds attacks met by BT attacks. Aaron shooting on goal given every chance and BT's keeper saving we could throw at them. About 15 or 20 mins in and Meds attack on the break, Aaron shoots and scores 3-2. You can guess what happens next! BT kick off, and attack and within a minute they score yet another equaliser! 3-3. This is where everyone thinks the next goal is going to be crucial. And it was, BT just kept sending wave after wave of attacks and score from a quick break, 3-4. BT keep attacking and Meds reply when they can but their agile keeper just stops everything. 10 minutes to go and BT attack and score again, 3-5. BT keep attacking, we defend and try our own counter attacks but they defend well and break again and net their sixth goal 3-6. Not long goes by and the final whistle is blown.

This was not a losing Eagles performance, you don't deserve a 3-6 defeat, a draw would have been taken by both teams at more than one point in this game. However, Boothstown never gave up, and you need to learn from that. Teams in division one do not lie down, roll over, play dead so they can have their tummy's tickled! The performance was there lads, just the result was not what we would have liked.

Result: 3-6 sad

Goal Scorers: Aaron 1, Andy 1, Joe T 1
