2/10/10 Meds Romans vs Sale United (AWAY)

2/10/10 Meds Romans vs Sale United (AWAY)

Another lovely autumnal morning strarted with a game away to Sale Utd. This was a team who has been unbeaten all season winning 3 and drawing 1 game so we knew it was going to be a tough match.

With a minutes silence before the kick off for a Sale coach, the game started with some impressive football played.

With Ethan in goal, we started with Louis, James and Dylan at the back, Ellis and Patrick in midfield and Robert up front.

It was a competitve first period with us going 1-0 down part way through the period. Our attacks were getting closer, and eventually one of our many corners resulted in a scramble and Dylan poaching home from 2 yards out - well done Dylan. At 1-1 the game was under control but a defensive error meant it was Sale going into the break 2-1 up.

Changes were made for the second period with Tom, Max and Ham all coming on. The keeper swapped too with Louis going in but the period certainly went away from us - eventually losing 3 silly goals. What was pleasing was our general play and desire to carry on playing the football even though we were losing.

Our shots on goal were well saved by their keeper -  who did a fine job in net - just keeping out a remarkable shot from half way by Ellis.

Further changes were again made at the start of the third period to give all the players as much playing time as possible with Max changing in goal. For this period, it was kept very tight and ended up 0-0 which again was a big positive for the players.

Although the results are not going our way at the moment, the general play is getting better with players getting used to various positions. Individually we can see each player improving too which is the key element during this season. So keep enjoying it !

Man if the match as voted by the Sale coach was Robert for his overall effort during the match.

Don't forget - training at Salford Academy this Tuesday - starting at 7-8pm - directions on our team page

"It's a big four minutes for Chris Hutchings. He's five minutes away from his first win."
