25/9/10 - Meds Romans vs Unicorn (Home)

25/9/10 - Meds Romans vs Unicorn (Home)

Saturdays match was against a Unicon team unbeaten all season. It was a lovely day with a newly mown pitch- quite a contrast from the week before !

With all the squad available there were a few attempts at different positions for some players to see how they enjoyed  playing out of their usual places.

With Ham volunteering in goal again, there were a couple of changes at the back with Ethan, Dylan and Patrick defending the goal and James moving into midfield alongside Tom leaving Robert up front.

Although we went a couple of goals down, there were again good signs of the players trying to pass and move the football- it was perhaps down to mistakes which every player makes and will learn from.

Changes were made at the end if the first period and as the time went on the team settled down. There were some surging runs from Louis at full back which was encouraging to see with many chances made by the team. A sweeping move ended in Ellis shooting only to be saved by our own player!

A mixture of bad luck and great goalkeeping on their part, meant it ended at 3-0 by the end of the second period. At this point, Max volunteered for goal and the shape of the team chancged again with Patrick upfront. In the end our possession and efforts on goal resulted in a cracking goal by Pat with it ending up 3-1.

The result didn't reflect the game and again I end up saying we didn't deserve it! Lots of signs of improvement this week so well done to you all. The effort from all the team was great- this week it was the tracking back to help defend that was evident. Alot of chances created and good passing throughout !

Some things to work on - shooting for the corners of the goal - remembering our positions ....
A big well done though to you all though - really pleasing from both me and Mike.

Man of the match as voted by Unicorn - Max - for his tireless  running in defence and great effort as goalkeeper.
