Stretford Vics v AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles
Stretford Vics v AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles
Sun 19th Sept KO 11:AM
Stretford Vics v AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles
With a few promising pre-season friendlies under our belts we have high hopes for this season.
First fixture is against Vics so it's a bit of a local derby and we are not expecting it to be an easy game but a fixture we needed to come out guns ablazing and make a good start to the season.
Subs: Chris Joe C, Sean, Olly, Jordan
First Half:
Eagles started off slowly and we attacked when we could. Vics defending and their keeper were just too good for us and we could not find the net on all our shots on goal. Vics had 5 attacks and 5 shots on goal and scored 4, Eagles had 13 attacks against Vics and only 4 shots on goal that were saved or off target. Very unusual for Eagles to be 4 goals down and half time and this gave us a mountain to climb. 2 of the goals were due to sloppy defending, something we thought we had ironed out during pre-season. Obviously not.
Second Half:
Eagles came out guns blazing in this half. 22 attacks and 16 shots on goal shows that the lads put the effort in and could only bag one goal out of all these chances, Chris bagging our consolation goal. Vics keeper and defence having a blinder today. Vics attacks mounted to 5 and one shot on goal which they scored making the final result 5-1 to Vics.
All in all, and I hope this is a rare event this season, one or two players having a bad day in the office we can deal with, but today it looked like the whole team was not clicking, not with it, something was missing and no one could put their finger on what is was! With all the quality players we have on the team, how can we come away losing 3 points and conceding 5 goals!
Whatever the problem was today, needs to be forgotten and locked away forever never to be seen again. Each fixture from now on needs to be handled better than today.
Result: 5-1
Goal Scorer: Chris Bristow 1
