4/11/10 - Meds Romans v Wilmslow Town Panthers

Well it was a lovely sunny day for our first ever league game at Wilmslow. After deciding to all meet there, it was great to see everyone on time at arguably the club furthest from home - think Newcastle playing Plymouth!

Before the start all the players were presented with their Meds top for the season and pictures taken witht the excitement starting to grow.

The game started at a very good pace with Robert making some surging runs and James, Tom and Dylan keeping the defence tight.  It was a very good first period with good football played, few chances and ended 0-0.

In the second period Wilmslow pressed further and even with the heroics from Louis in goal and last ditch challenges from Hamilton we ended up 4-0 down !

What was really pleasing in the final period was the determination to keep on trying. Again there was some excellent tackling with Alex unfortunately picking up an injury for his efforts and having to be subbed - and Tom getting a ball full in the face and still carrying on!

Even in the dying minutes, Max and Robert had a couple of chances but it was not to be...

It was a tough start against a good Wilmslow team. There are still things to work on but the effort and endeavour was there for all to see and we felt the team did not deserve to lose 5-0.

Well done to all the players on their first game - the referee voted Louis man of the match.
