League - Sale United v AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles
Sun 16th Oct 2011 - KO 10:30am
Weather overcast, drizzle at times, pitch wet and grass a little long.
Subs: Lincoln, Chris and Travis (welcome back Travis!)
Still Injured: Tyler
The lads need to bounce back from the last result. Sale should not be taken for granted, no team should be, in this division there are no easy fixtures and every game should be treated the same. Let's see what the game brings.
First Half:
This half was a bit flat overall. Both teams had as much possession as each other and really cancelled each other out. It was Meds Eagles who scored first, Eddie sending a lovely cross in and Jack was there to tap it home! Happy Birthday Jack! 0-1. Eagles seemed to go off the boil a bit and this allowed Sale to get back into the game for a good ten minutes. Sale's persistance paid off, they attacked on the break, and with only a defender and the keeper to beat they scored an equaliser. 1-1. Not long after this, the half time whistle blew and it was time for a team talk, possibly Sale having the better of two team talks. Shots on goal from Sale, 4 and Eagles, 5. Free kicks for Sale, 1 and for Eagles, 5! Eagles shots coming from Dom, Jack, Adam, Lincoln and Eddie.
Second Half:
A few Eagles changes were made in this half and this made a big difference to the way we played. Eagles played much better football in this half than in the first half. For a good chunk of this half, Eagles had most of the possession and most of the chances on goal, with Sale only breaking to attack every now and then. Sale played well, closing us down and worked very hard but it was all to no avail. During an Eagles dominating period, Travis got himself into a great position, and with some lovely footwork fired off a cracking shot which slammed into the top right corner of the net! 1-2, a beauty of a goal! For a while after our goal, Sale managed to get back into the game, but Eagles defended well. Then for the last five minutes Eagles settled down again and before we knew it the full time whistle blew. Shots on goal for Sale, 5 and for Eagles, 8. Shots on goal for Eagles came from, Dom, Travis, Nico, Clevon, Conor and Jack. Free kicks for Sale, 3 and for Eagles, 3.
Result: 1-2
Well done to both teams, overall this was a tight game, a bit flat in the first half caused mostly by some poor Eagles passing, the game came to life in the second. A slightly better performance from Eagles this week but still not quite up there with their best. If Eagles can start firing on all cylinders they can take on any team. Welcome back Travis and happy birthday Jack! Three points in the bag and back in winning ways, all positives that we need to take forward into the next fixture.

Don't forget Eagles players and parents. This forum may be for posting match reports, but it's where you can add your comments in addition to the match report, mention if I have got something wrong, missed something out etc. Don't leave all the typing to me!
