League - AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles v Boothstown
Sun 25th Sept 2011 - KO 10:30am
So far we have had a great start to the new season, yet again we face Boothstown! We narrowly beat them last week 0-1. Weather today is overcast with the odd shower! The pitch is in reasonable condition
Subs: Jack, Sean
Still Injured: Tyler, Travis
First Half:
Boothstown today fielding a bare eleven, missing three of their players due to trials etc. Throughout this half Boothstown had some great chances and more of them according to my stat. However, Eagles having less of the chances scored the first goal via a pass from Dom to Chris who finished nicely to make it 1-0. Other shots on goal came from Jack, Clevon, Conor, Dom and Chris. Eagles having 6 shots and Boothstown having 8 shots. To be honest, Eagles should have finished this half at least 4-0 as three of our chances on goal were sitters and we just did not hit the target! The first half finished at 1-0 and the game in the balance ready to be taken by either side.
Second Half:
With Eagles having two subs and Boothstown not having any subs, tired legs may well be the deciding factor! And as predicted Eagles slowly grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and made Boothstown work hard, which they did to give them credit. Conor was the next to score for Eagles, a header from Chris towards the box and Conor only had to finish it off which he did! 2-0. Plenty end to end football followed but Boothstown looked tired and it started to show about half way through this half when Eagles attacked on the break and Chris only had the keeper to beat and he lobbed the ball over the keeper to make it 3-0. Lovely, sublime finish! Not many minutes to go from the end of the game and Boothsown are awarded a free kick but this breaks down, Eagles break free quickly and Lincoln gets through the defence and shoots into the top right of the net! 4-0. Boothsown had 2 shots on goal in this half and Eagles had 9! Eagles shots coming from Lincoln, Conor, Dom, Adam and Chris. The game ended at 4-0 and everyone deserves a pat on the back for the performance once again. Well done to Sean for turning up even though full of the flu! In the end he did not feel well enough to come on even for 5 minutes!
Yet again, our ref did not turn up so Paul Stead became stand in ref and I think he did a great job.
Result: 4-0
Yet another 3 points, oh and another clean sheet! I cannot recall in Eagles history 3 clean sheets in a row! Excellent performance by every single player!
Goal Scorers: Lincoln 1, Chris 2, Conor 1
