League - Boothstown v AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles
Sun 15th May 2011 - KO 2:00pm
We need a win to secure third place, Boothstown already league champions so we lined and applauded them onto the pitch.
The weather was cold, wet and windy. Not the nice weather we have been having recently!
Subs: Eddie, Aaron, Clevon
First Half:
From the kick off it was end to end football, Boothstown starting off with the shots on goal and Eagles slowly getting into their stride and replying. Eagles were the first to score, a corner ball sees Kaelan meet it with his head and off the ground into the back of the net! 0-1. For the next 10 mins or so, Eagles had the upper hand and then Boothstown started to get back in it. Then Eagles controlled the game for good periods and Eagles had 6 shots on goal and Boothstown had 4 shots on goal. Our shots coming from Nico, Kaelan, Lincoln and Joe T. The half time whistle is blown and both teams go into the changing rooms to get warm!
Second Half:
Again, end to end football, Boothstown having a good chance on goal followed by Eagles with a chance on goal. It was Eagles who scored the second goal, Eddie having a run down the left wing and striking the ball sweetly into the net off the nearside post! 0-2. More end to end football follows, and then Boothstown attack and win a penalty due to a handball in our area! Rob makes a superb save only see the Boothstown player head the ball into the net on the follow up! Our lads were all statues and could have cleared Robs save if they had followed the ball in! 1-2. Unlike previous fixtures, Eagles did not give up and kept attacking and kept shooting. Eagles scored next, Eddie using his right foot this time to pass the ball into the corner of the net. 1-3. Boothstown looked like a team who had given up, knowing they were already league champs! They had one more attack and this was followed by two attacks from Eagles. Boothstown again, 4 shots on goal and Eagles had 12! Eagles shots came from Eddie, Aaron and Travis. Final whistle blown and we can all go home and get dry and warm!
Result: 1-3
Fantastic 3 points against the league champions, this should secure third place for us this season. This proves we can perfom against the better teams and as long as the lads put in the work rate at training and improve, we have a good chance of second or first place next season! Well done everyone!
Goal Scorers: Eddie 2, Kaelan 1
