League - Irlam Rangers v AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles

Sun 8th May 2011 - KO 2pm

A 2pm kick off and usually we never do well with afternoon fixtures. Never understood why!
The rain held off for this game and the pitch had dried up from the previous downpour!
Irlam had strengthened recently so we were expecting a harder battle than we had with them earlier in the season.
Plus the wind had become quite strong and this may have an impact on the game, but time will tell.

Subs: Kaelan, Aaron

First Half:
Looking at my notes, Eagles were all over irlam from the start and for most of this half we kept on attacking and kept on shooting. Surely, one of these shots will produce a goal! 13 shots for Eagles and 4 shots for Irlam! It was Dom and Aaron who produced some nice 'one, two' pass and move football to past Irlam's defence and Aaron unselfishly passed to Dom and Dom finished with a nice pass into the back of the net! 0-1 and the whistle blew a minute or so after the goal. Some of our football in this half was superb, some a bit scrappy! But the result would have higher for us if some of the shots from Chris, Eddie, Dom, Andy, Aaron and Kaelan were on target and not straight at the keeper!

Second Half:
Once again, my notes tell me that Eagles had the majority of the possession and shots on goal! 21 shots on goal for Eagles and 5 shots for Irlam! How we did not score more goals in this half I will never know! Aaron scored number 2 from a nice pass across the goal mouth and Aaron somehow got his foot to the ball to back heel it into the net! 0-2. Aaron scored number 3 from a great cross from Nico on the wing to bag Aaron's 2nd! Can he get a hat trick? Well he did! Aaron bagged our 4th and his hat trick by chipping the keeper as if he was not there! 0-4 and game over really! Our 21 chances were from, Nico, Aaron, Sean, Chris, Lincoln and Kaelan.

Result: 0-4 smile

A good 3 points and a clean sheet. Well done to everyone who put in a great performance today!

Goal Scorers: Dom 1, Aaron 3
