International Friendly - Llandudno FC v Eagles

Sun 24th April 2011 - KO 11:00am

We all arrived at Llandudno FC's ground on a gorgeous sunny Sunday. The big pitch looked like a bowling green although a bit on the hard side and a bit dry.Llandudno FC play in black and white stripes so no kit clash of colours. Both teams warmed up whilst the parents settled down in the stands.

I did not make a note of the starting subs but throughout the three 30 minute periods we used all our subs and everyone got decent time in the game.

First 30 mins:
From the start it was obvious that neither team knew what to expect from the other team and tentative football was the order of the day, well, for a little while. The game started to warm up and the football from Eagles was superb to watch. Llandudno FC got the first shot of the day but Rob our keeper was equal to it. Eagles made a few attacking moves but Llandudno FC defence blocked us out. Eagles replied with a shot from Travis but Llandudno FC keeper made a good save. Llandudno FC attack, shoot and Rob saves, then Eagles mount an attack, Joe Barlow send in a lovely cross from the right wing, Aaron heads the ball towards goal, it's saved and then whilst I am writing notes down, Travis strikes the ball into the net! 0-1. From this point on it was all Eagles until the last 5 mins or so then Llandudno FC get back in it but it's too late the whistle is blown.

1st Period Result: Llandudno FC 0 v Eagles 1

Second 30 mins:
We made a few changes with subs and off we go again. From the kick off Llandudno FC had the upper hand for quite some time and Eagles were starting to look scrappy with their clearances and passes etc. After 20 mins or so of Llandudno FC possession and the odd Eagles attacking break, Llandudno FC send in a good cross and one of their strikers hits the ball into our goal, Rob having no chance and all down to bad defending position wise. 1-0. Eagles reply by getting back into the game and we get a few shots but they are either wide or their keeper has the shots covered. The whistle is blown and we look at making more changes.

2nd Period Result: Llandudno FC 1 v Eagles 0

Third 30 mins:
Eagles got back into the game but once again we were playing some scrappy football and Llandudno FC ended up giving away lots of free kicks to us. Looking at my notes proves to me that Eagles had this half sown up and Llandudno FC made the odd attack and had one or two shots on goal that we dealt with. Shots attempted by Linclon, Ryan, Chris and Clevon. With about 3 or 4 minutes to go, Eagles attack, and I can't recall the build up very well but all I can recall is seeing Nico strike the ball into the net through a crowded box to make it 0-1 to Eagles for this period! Llandudno FC reply with a shot on goal but it's too high and shortly afterwards the final whistle is blown.

3rd Period Result: Llandudno FC 0 v Eagles 1

Summary:
Llandudno FC are a good team, their pitch was perfect but maybe a little hard, in the first period I think I am right in saying that I have not seen Eagles play a better 30 mins for a long time! Our possession and pass and move footbal was superb! The performance put in by everyone throughout was excellent, however, we did lose our way a little in the 2nd and 3rd periods. The weather was glorious, the view from the ground was awesome plus Llandudno FC laid on sandwiches for everyone at the end of the game, thank you, very much appreciated!

Thank you to everyone at Llandudno FC for the friendly, we wish you well for the rest of the season and thank you for you hospitality.

Overall Result: 1-2 smile

Goal Scorers: Travis 1, Nico 1
