League - AFC Urmston Meadowside Eagles v Benchill
Sun 17th April 2011 - KO 10:30 (Flixton Fields)
Subs: Aaron, Nico, Andy, Sean
What a glorious Sunday morning! The sun is shining, it's warm as well which makes a change! Eagles had not played for a while so we need to see a good performance today. Benchill arrived late, so the kick off went ahead at 10:45. If they had not arrived in another few minutes the ref was ready to give us a home walk over!
First Half:
The game commences and it's not long before Eagles attack, Eddie crosses the ball in and it's blocked eventually ending up for an Eagles Corner. This comes to nothing and before we know it Benchill have a corner and we defend it poorly, very poorly and Benchill score the first goal after the ball was ping ponged around our box! 0-1. End to end football after this, and Benchill seem to have the upper hand but Eagles were slowly warming to the game. Eagles attack, Eddie send a great cross in from the left and Chris side foots it into the net for the equaliser! 1-1. After this, not much happened, the game got a bit scrappy and free kicks all over the place for both teams. The half time whistle is blown and it's time to pep the lads up!
Team talk given, drinks drunk, changes made.
Second Half:
Eagles come out of the traps and they mean business. Benchill starting to look tired, they have no subs on the bench so that works in our favour! Eagles attack, some nice play sees Aaron with space to fire a shot off with his left foot and what a shot it is! Goal! 2-1 to Eagles. The game started to get scrappy again, too many free kicks for both sides and a lot of them silly needless free kicks! Kaelan got frustrated at one point and his attitude earned him a red card! Just what we did not need, now we are down to 10 men! Benchill start to get a foot hold on the game but we made some changes to rest some tired legs and also change our formation slightly. It paid off, Eagles attack, some lovely build up play sees Joe B 'pass' the ball into the goal from a crazy angle! 3-1 to Eagles! Not bad with 10 men! Once again, Benchill try to step things up but this only causes one of them to earn a red card also! Now it's all equal and not long after that the ref blows his whistle!
Summary:
Another 3 points in the bag and a couple of goals to add to the goal difference. Well done to Benchill who battled hard and put in a decent performance. Eagles performance was not good enough in the first 15 mins of the first half, but stepped it up as the game progressed. Well done everyone and keep up the hard work.
That's it, I'm off for a round of golf! FOUR!
Result: 3-1
Goal Scorers: Chris 1, Aaron 1, Joe B 1
